Aerial view of the spit (September 1998)

The Kalaat Landalous sand spit was being eroded at its base and growing at its offshore end, threatening to isolate the coastal fishing haven that it protected.

Objectives of the modelling

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of solutions aimed at preventing the erosion of the sand spit at its base and limiting its extension in order to maintain access to the fishing haven.
